Time was a crucial piece in this painting conception and the ideas of revisiting history. Imagining the confines of what a memory would be like 20 years later after a parents death, was the vision I wanted to paint.

Personally, I believe that the location of where your childhood took place and the place of most joy would disappear with time. Some part of memory in my mind erodes and that was the angle I approached the painting with. The darkness representing the empty spots that can't be replaced and some of the crucial information disappearing as soon as they appear.
